What’s the rationale behind the selection of platforms?

 
The idea is to have a broad overview of what’s available, from sophisticated platforms performing many functions, to free, single-function, single-channel tools.
As social media monitoring is becoming integrated into SCRM and social media management, boundaries are getting blurred. To reflect this evolution, we have included platforms that bundle social media monitoring with SCRM or social media management.

Where do the descriptions of the platforms come from?

 
We used material available on the vendors’ sites. We did our best to summarize what was said, removed the hype when there was some, and created factual descriptions. Sometimes, we had to patch together content from several pages or do rewrites.

Can we have the brief description of our platform improved?

 
If you are platform vendor and believe that the brief description of your product needs to be improved, email us a hype-free text of up to 100 words, and we’ll be glad to post it.

Are more detailed descriptions of these platforms available?

 
If you are a vendor, you can post a free, detailed profile of your platform on this site. Just send us an email, and we will send you a form to fill and we will post what you send us.

I know a platform that I don’t see in this directory, and I see some inaccuracies in the description of another platform. Can you make the changes?

Did you review these platforms?

 
Comparing 450+ platforms, beyond the thousands of work that would be required, is quasi impossible, as they are all so different. Also, new features are added each week. We believe that the brief descriptions will help get a good sense for each platform. Our recommendation is to use this spreadsheet to get a general view of what’s out there, and to then contact the vendors for more in-depth information

Are there platforms that are not included, and why?

 
We did not include web analytics platforms, as their focus is on particular websites. Also we did not include vendors using white label platforms. We did not include platforms that monitor conversations within “walled” communities, like Mzinga or SERMP, but made an exception for Facebook analytics.
We’re sure there are platforms we did not include because we have not heard about them. We’ll be glad to include them if you let us know.
